Migrant Birth Kit.
Birth preparation courses have been a popular and proven offer for Swiss families for decades to prepare for birth and the postpartum period.
For many asylum-seeking families, access to birth preparation courses or midwifery care during pregnancy is very difficult due to linguistic, bureaucratic, but also organizational obstacles.
The new online childbirth preparation course "Migrant Birth Kit", designed in the form of an app, circumvents this due to its low-threshold character and thus makes it possible for families to participate flexibly in terms of time and regardless of location.
The video material produced is being translated into various languages to make the course accessible to as many people as possible.
The long-term goal is to increase the health literacy of asylum-seeking and migrant families in Switzerland, improve their quality of life and reduce health care costs.
For the realization of this new project, ONEDU works closely with actors such as the Mamamundo Foundation, which offers birth preparation courses for migrant women. Further support and collaborations are made with Kindsverlust and Mütterväterberatung.
ONEDU wants to use the course as a platform for networking different groups and organizations and to involve as many affected people as possible.
For the realization of this new course, the founders of the organization ONEDU, Patricia Frei and Lynn Huber were the first midwives ever to receive the prestigious funding BRIDGE Proof of Concept from the Swiss National Science Foundation and Innosuisse.
With the funding and in collaboration with the Bern University of Applied Sciences, the two can realize their second online course.
The launch of the course is planned for early 2024.
